Built on dirt, weather,
and refusing to quit.
The Baum family settled on this country more than a century ago. What began as a small homestead — a few head of cattle, a garden, and a barn that leaked in three places — grew into something steadier. Through droughts, hard winters, and the kind of years that test whether you really mean it, we kept going.
Today Baum Family Ranch is a working commercial operation running Black and Red Angus across open pasture. We move cattle the old way — on horseback, with dogs, reading the grass and the weather. We believe the best ranching isn't about being the biggest. It's about being the most careful.
Stewardship First
We don't own this land. We hold it for the next generation. Every decision — from grazing rotations to water development — is made with the long view in mind.

Our cattle are worked quietly, moved patiently, and never rushed. Low-stress handling isn't just kinder — it produces better beef and a better animal.

We select for cattle that can thrive on grass, handle weather, and calve unassisted. No shortcuts. No fads. Just proven bloodlines that earn their keep.
Community Minded
We're neighbors first, ranchers second. We lease land to folks who'll run it right, buy from people we trust, and sell to buyers who'll do the same.
